RECIPROCITY AND RECOGNITION.
THIS IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS LEGAL ADVICE OR REPRESENT THE LAW IN ANY STATE!!!
THIS GUIDE WAS DEVELOPED FOR HOLDERS OF SC RESIDENTIAL CONCEALED WEAPON PERMITS.

GEORGIA & SOUTH CAROLINA DO NOT RECOGNIZE EACH OTHERS PERMITS. HOWEVER, THERE ARE MULTIPLE STATES THAT WILL ISSUE A NON-RESIDENT PERMIT TO SOUTH CAROLINA CONCEALED WEAPON PERMIT HOLDERS, WHICH IN TURN ARE RECOGNIZED BY GEORGIA. THIS WILL ALLOW A SOUTH CAROLINA RESIDENT TO LEGALLY CARRY IN GEORGIA.

THE STATES PERMITS LISTED BELOW ADD GEORGIA ( and others) TO THE STATES IN WHICH YOU MAY LEGALLY CARRY A HANDGUN

Numerous states have passed some form of reciprocity or recognition statute that allows citizens licensed by other states to carry a concealed firearm in that state. Ten states, plus Alaska, Arizona and Vermont (no license required), recognize all concealed carry licenses; others have signed specific agreements with states who meet the criteria they have established by statute. Not all states recognize another states licenses. The purpose of this guide is to advise individuals as to the current status of reciprocity or recognition by state. Reciprocity and recognition are literally "moving targets." These laws may change every year, and new reciprocity and recognition agreements are signed, or occasionally, revoked, on a continuing basis. As always, you must verify all information with the proper authorities before traveling and be certain you obey the laws of the state you are visiting.

CAUTION!!

While your permit may be recognized by a state you are visiting, the laws governing carry of a pistol may vary drastically from one state to another.it your responsibility to know and comply with the law.

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINE WHICH NON-RESIDENTAL PERMIT(S) BEST SUIT YOUR NEEDS.

(Source handgunlaw.us. This information is current as of 07/18/11)

As near as I can determine the following states recognize ALL other states permits.
Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri,
 Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah,

As near as I can determine these states will recognize a S.C. permit
Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming

The following is a list of some states issuing non-resident permits I personally consider these states the best value and the least troublesome to obtain. NOTE; states that only recognize residential permits are not listed as additional recognizing or reciprocal states. States already recognized by South Carolina are not listed as additional reciprocal or recognizing states

Presuming you have a South Carolina Concealed Weapon Permit and you obtain the state(s) listed below, it will add reciprocity or recognition by the state(s) shown. You may have to navigate the pages to find the information/forms you need.
